2/19/2006 Paralyzed Again

Hey everyone,
Sorry so long on an update for Fletcher. The last I wrote he was paralyzed again. They unparalyzed him and he was doing okay but still having episodes of desating and they would have to bag him in order to get his oxygen level back up. The doctors decided Fletcher needed a longer trach, thinking maybe this was causing his episodes so they ordered him a custom made trach and put it in yesterday. Well, for the past four or five days he has been sick, running a fever and just generally not feeling well. Of course, they ran test and did lab work and he has MRSA, which is a staph infection in his blood stream. MRSA is resistant to antibiotics like penicillin so they have put him on a strong antibiotic called Vanco. It sure seems like if 'its' out there our sweet Fletcher gets 'it'! We haven't talked with a doctor lately, so we're not sure what the next step is, but we'll let you know when we know. As always please pray for him, for strength in his little body, for wisdom for the doctors and for healing. May the Lord bless all of you!

Much love,
Craig & Denise
