8/30/2006 Pneumonia Better

Hey everyone,

I just realized I haven't updated you all on Fletcher since I last sent a prayer request concerning his pneumonia. Well, Fletcher is better, I'm not sure that the pneumonia is gone but Fletcher is doing well and is happy as always! They put him on a new ventilator, one that he rejected while in the hospital last January. He is tolerating it well. The new vent is truly portable and fits on the back of his wheel chair! Today Maddie and I went to the Center after she got out of school and we took him for a walk and then outside to the playground! I felt like a 'normal' mom taking my kids to the park without a medical professional having to tag along! He continues to be a joy and a delight to us. What a blessing he is to so many. We have been fighting discouragement and have decided that if Fletcher can go through all this with such a great disposition then we definitely can also! Fletcher is still having problems with bowel movements so he will have an echocardiogram on Thursday morning. He has pulmonary hypertension so the episodes he's having while having a BM are concerning. Hopefully they'll just need to adjust his medication and we can move on to the next thing! :) The next thing being surgery on his right eye. We have tried to get his eye fixed since he was about 8 weeks old! Dr. Hildebrand wants to do the surgery on an outpatient basis in his office and the anesthesiologist says,' NO WAY! It needs to be done in a hospital.' So, please be praying for wisdom and the Lord's perfect will in this situation. One more thing, Craig, Kayleigh, Maddie and I will be going to Houston this weekend to visit Craig's aunt and uncle. Craig and I have NEVER been away from Fletcher and although we really need a break, we are struggling with leaving him. Craig's parents and my sister have agreed we need to go and they will make sure Bubba's not all alone. My friends on staff at the Center have also promised me they'll take extra special care of him while we're gone. Please pray for us to have a safe trip and a relaxing and refreshing time. This will be hard for us but Craig & I know everything will be okay and that this will be good for the five of us. We appreciate you all so much and always know that we can count on you to pray for us. Thank you so very much for being the Body of Christ to us!

Much love,
Craig & Denise

I have attached a picture of Fletcher with his newest, favorite toy a little empty saline tube! He's so cute and we are having so much fun with him!
