The Nightmare FairIn 1985, Doctor Who was put on hiatus for 18 months. The move was a belated one, for the season it slated was already well advanced, inasfar as directors had been assigned to three of the serials and various scripts had been written and drafted. The season, which was to have included The Nightmare Fair, Mission to Magnus and The Ultimate Evil, would later be replaced with the epic Trial of a Timelord. The other Season 23 had effectively been wiped from the Doctor Who timeline.
Now, Argolis Productions presents an unofficial and unauthorised charity audio adaptation of Graham Williams’ The Nightmare Fair, the first adventure from the ‘Missing Season’. Based in and around the contemporary Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the story sees the Doctor meeting up with the Toymaker for the first time since William Hartnell’s The Celestial Toymaker. Using the original script and subsequent novelisation, the audio script has remained as faithful as possible to Williams’ narrative including sequences used in one form and not the other.
