The EMD GP40 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors, Electro-Motive Division.  It was manufactured from November 1965 until December 1971.  It has an EMD 645E3 V16 diesel engine that can generate 3,000 hp.

This locomotive came in the Thunder Valley / Santa Fe Starter Train Set that I bought.
