   Battle of Bear Valley
US troops engaged the Yaqui Indians in the Battle of Bear Valley.  This was a minor incident in Arizona but, it was one of the last battles of the American Indian Wars.

   Daylight Savings Time
The US Congress. with The Standard Time Act, approved time zones and the creation of Daylight Savings Time which went into effect on March 31, 1918.

   GM Acquires Chevrolet
General Motors acquired the Chevrolet Motor Company of Delaware.

   Air Mail Begins
The US Postal Service began Air Mail deliveries, becoming the third country to do so behind India and England.  Routes were between New York City, Philadelphia and Washington DC.
