The narrator in this story bears a passing resemblance in both looks and speech to Stan Lee.
Alex's early life is explored in flashback. He is adopted by the Blandings to replace their older son, Todd.  Todd was an excellent athlete and scholar, and despite trying his best, Alex doesn't ever quite measure up.  Some local bullies and Mr. Sinister want to make sure Alex never fits it, however.
