Strange things are happening at school as people are acting out a scene from the past.  It appears that a ghost of a former student has regrets about killing a teacher, his lover, and himself and is causing the problems.  He uses Buffy and Angel in his final act and, since Angel cannot die by a simple gunshot, is able to break out of the fatal recreation and leave the school.
