Strange things are happening all around the world and everything is linked back to the rift in Cardiff.  Several of the people in Torchwood see people urging them to open the rift.  When Jack and Gwen investigate the manager of the hotel from 1941 (last episode) named Bilis, he shows Gwen a future where Rhys is dead.  She takes him to Torchwood to save him but Bilis kills him anyway.  The group decide to open the rift with Jack holding out.  Owen shoots him in the head and they all use their retinal patterns to open the rift.  All of the anomalies disappear but an even greater threat now emerges.  Abbadon, the son of the Great Beast and cast out before time, has been released by the opening of the rift and now walks above Cardiff.  Anyone caught in his shadow will die.  Can Torchwood stop him after all they've already been through?
