Togusa is released from jail and learns about the events that have happened in the weeks he's been incarcerated.  Now he is out of work and having a hard time dealing with things.  He shows up with a gun at a press conference about Secretary General Yakushima - who's been ousted by the information seeds released by Section 9 before is disbandment.  Batou gets to him and escorts him back where he finds the team waiting - although not officially sanctioned.  He asks about Motoko, since he's heard that she was killed.  Meanwhile Motoko confronts the Laughing Man in a library and he explains about his motives and actions.  Chief Aramaki shows up and offers him a job with Section 9 but he refuses saying that he's just not a team player.
