Alice and Detective Cooks are on a train bound for Clairmont.  Alice tries to understand why they are going there and Cooks gives her a recording that explains a little about the Befort Children and the Artifact.  The Artifact is a stone given to Radcliffe by Cooks' grandfather who found it when he found the Befort Children dead.  X-rays show that the stone contains mysterious symbols in it.  Getting nowhere with the symbols, Radcliffe goes in search of more information on the children.  What he finds drives him insane.  Meanwhile the children begin to gather at Clairmont and Agi must help to return Hasmodai's memories to him.
