Matt and Ted are in the Bennet home when they bring Mrs Bennet hom from the hospital.  They take the family hostage in order to find out what Mr Bennet has done to them.  When things start to get out of hand, Matt shoots Claire (knowing that she can heal) to keep Ted from killing someone else.  This sets off a chain of events which leads Matt and Mr Bennet to the paper company while Ted stays with the family.  Mr Bennet remembers during this time about him coming to the organization and about him being given Claire by Hiro's father to raise.  He is to bring her in if she ever exhibits abilities.  Later Zach escapes when the still-alive Claire rescues them but Ted returns to recapture the mother and Claire.  When Matt and Mr Bennet return, Thompson (Mr Bennet's boss) arrives and shoots Ted, wounding him.  This starts a chain reaction and Claire must give up her secret to stop Ted from going nuclear.
