A girl named Sui lives in a darkened shed due to a problem with her eyes.  She is visited by a boy named Biki.  Biki learns of the river of light from her before he succumbs to the same problem she has.  Ginko shows up to help and is able to cure Biki.  He is too late to save Sui's eye however since she waded into the river of light that he warned her about.  He is able to remove the mushi and uses his glass eye to restore her site in one eye before moving on.
