A man named Seijirou is stargazing when his child's nanny Fuki reaches up for a string in the sky and disappears.  Ginko finds a young woman in a tree in the mountains who has no memory of who she is and helps her out.  She has become half mushi and when he returns her to her village, Seijirou asks Fuki to marry him.  Ginko leaves them with medicine and tells Seijirou that he must make Fuki want to stay in order to keep her from fading away altogether.  He returns much later to find that Fuki has disappeared, although he can still see her.  He walks Seijirou through what he must do in order to get her back.
