Hitomi passes out after her vision and taken with Merle to a room to recover.  Van discovers that they have been poisoned by some plants and gets a salve that will cure them.  Even though skeptical, Allen prepares for a Zaibach attack and, sure enough, it arrives.  After a swift defeat the town evacuates in an air ship but the Zaibach Guymelefs follow.  Remembering the words of Allen about sacrifice, Van takes the Escaflowne in order to save the ship.  It transforms into a dragon as he flies off drawing the enemy away..
