Zack shows up to tell Max that another of their friends, Brin, was kidnapped.  Max kidnaps Lydecker to force information out of him.  He recognizes her voice from the conference so now knows what her face looks like.  When they discover that he knows nothing about Brin's whereabouts, they take off to find the kidnappers with Lydecker in tow.
