A German tale.  A young girl is kept by a troll who continues to give her impossible tasks and then beats her when she cannot complete them.  A strange white lion begins to appear and to help the young girl.  When she is given the task to build a castle in a day, the lion help and the troll is lured into a room with no bottom.  Free, the princess lives in the castle and meets a prince who she eventually will marry.  When he leaves one day and doesn't come back, she goes looking for him.  She finally finds him under the spell of the troll's daughter.  The lion gives her three gifts and tells her to use them wisely in order to get her prince back.
