Mayama was beaten by Yamada's father after delivering her home last night and Yamada apologizes to him.  He assures her that the beating didn't leave him in as much pain as she did after he carried her all the way.  She starts to beat on him after this but he invites her to breakfast.  Shuuji has gotten an offer to help another professor complete a book which wil take him out of the country for a year.  He asks Hagu to come with him.  He remembers how Hagu had been cooped up taking care of her grandmother and the talent that she had that was wasted by the limited life experience she has.  He also remembers asking her to come to the school to learn more about her art.  Hagu decides to stay at school since she has friends there.  While goiong to a party for Shuuji, Takemoto sees Hagu looking on the ground for something.  When he asks she tells him she wants to find a four leaf clover for Shuuji so that he will have luck and be safe on his journey.  Takemoto joins in and eventually everyone else does as well.  In the end, they all show up dirty and late.  When Hagu explains to Shuuji why, he says that it's all right, she has already given him so much.
