When Ciz comes into the room Zepheris disappears but Pacifica cannot go through with killing the little girl.  Shannon comes in also and, when Ciz runs to him, Pacifica throws her back.  Shannon is enraged and demands an appology from Pacifica who gives none.  Later Shannon and Ciz go into town to sell the cart and Shannon almost dies trying to protect Ciz from an oncomming wagon.  Ciz leaves that night and Pacifica goes after her.  Zepheris appears to Shannon and tells him that she cannot appear when Ciz is near him.  He tells him that she is an artillery peacemaker that has just been enabled.  Shannon goes out after Pacifica and Ciz.  By the time he gets to them, Pacifica has already witnessed Ciz (or CZ) become uncompressed and activated into her true form by another peacemaker Steyr.  Zepheris, who can now appear because of CZ's activation, joins with Shannon and they are able to run the two peacemakers off.
