Jinto appears to be dying as Lafiel and several others are around him.  Previously, the Bebaus brothers are pushing deep into enemy territory with little to no resistance.  Dusanyu, with his Chief of Staff's agreement, decides to allow him to continue.  At Lakfakalle, Lafiel's younger brother is playing with Diaho, Jinto's cat.  Debeusec enters and talks to his son about Lafiel and how he need not worry that he doesn't live up to her standards.  He tells him also that he will shortly re-enter service in the Star Force.  Lafiel has been appointed as Territorial Ambassador to the planet Lobnas II.  Jinto offers to be her Deputy Territorial Ambassador so that she may stay on the ship.
