Batou is taken out by Kuze but left alive.  Motoko arrives and follows up on Kuze but is unable to get to him before he leaves in the ship.  Section 9 regroups and awaits airlift.  As the plane sets down, a member of Kuze's group that stayed behind blows up the plane.  Ishikawa is barely able to make it out in time but the pilots go down.  Kuze, now in the sea, discovers that he did not in fact get plutonium as he had thought.  Section 9 begins their investigation into Sagawa Electronics and find evidence, although not indisputable, that Gouda was behind these events.
