It seems clear that Makoto is just a copy cat since Tsukiko's attack was a hoax.  The detective get him to admit that he only attacked Isshi and Hirukawa.  As Mitsuhiro delves deeper into the facts he comes to the strange conclusion that each of the victims had be under duress and felt cornered - with no hope.  He determines that they need to find a person like that in order to catch the real Lil' Slugger.  Wondering how to do this, he realizes that they have someone just like that, Makoto.  The two detective arrive back at his cell just in time to see Lil' Slugger, with a bloody bat, skate off through a solid wall.  When they look into the cell, Makoto is dead.  The incident leads to resignations and the two detectives are now without a job.  As Mitsuhiro walks back to his apartment, he's hit on the head with a bat.  Back at his apartment, he determines that Lil' Slugger can somehow replicate himself and is still at large.
