Ayumu sleeps during lunch and has a dream of his brother Kiyotaka leaving to find the secret of the Blade Children two years ago and never returning.  As he heads back to class he hears a scream.  When he gets to the balcony on the stairway, he sees that a girl has fallen.  A passing teacher asks him if he pushed her and that sets the school to talking.  The police investigate and his sister-in-law, Madoka, is one of the detectives.  The editor of the school paper, Hiyono, trails him in order to get the story - whether he's a killer or somehow miraculously clears his name.  Things are worse since, although the girl, Sayoko, survived the fall, she cannot remember anything.
