Takeru and Ryou are friends.  Ryou is popular with the girls and hard working while Takeru is lazy and unambitious.  One night while making a delivery on a motorcycle, Takeru and Ryou see a strange light in the sky.  It splits apart and one comes down in the forest.  Takeru and Ryou investigate.  Takeru sees a young girl in a tree filled with light and says hikari (light).  When she hears this see comes toward him assuming the name Hikari.  Suddenly a huge bug-like creature attacks but Ryou drives the motorcycle into it and it goes away.  It shows up again later and knocks Ryou out and takes Hikari.  Takeru, who had vowed to keep Hikari safe, somehow transforms into a superbeing and nearly kills it.  It slithers away once again to find it's way to where Hikari is hiding.  She looks at it and says she likes the smell of it's defeat.  When Takeru, now normal looking, gets back to Hikari with Ryou, the bug's blood is everywhere and Hikari seems all right.
