Ryou has found another girl in the woods and takes her to his house.  He gives her the name Akari (light).  There she meets Kimi, his sister, who gives her a bath and some food.  She sleeps in Kimi's room and we learn that Ryou and Kimi are living alone since their parents died.  The next morning Kimi decides that they cannot keep her because they don't have enough money so they take her to Takeru's aunt and uncle's house.  It appears that Hikari and Akari don't recognize each other even though they apparently came to Earth at the same time and in the same light.  When Kimi and Ryou start to head back to their house, Akari who is being fitted for some clothes of her own, comes out and begs Ryou not to leave her.  Kimi agrees that she can stay with her and Ryou.
