Motoko receives a kimono in the mail from her sister but she doesn't wear girl style clothes so she leaves it alone.  Later she runs out of clothes and must borrow some more feminine clothes from the other girls.  Somehow this causes her fighting skills to diminish as Keitaro and Toma (the turtle) are able to stop her sword.  When things start going missing around the house - especially all of Motoko's drying clothes - everyone goes on a search for them.  What they discover is that mecha Toma - a creation of Kaolla's - has taken everything and started assimilating them into him.  He grows huge and now it's up to Motoko's waning powers to stop him.
