A serial killer that preys on high school girls is released on a technicality.  It was Danny's overzealousness that caused him to go free and now the department is on his tail to make sure that he doesn't kill again.  The killer has plans of his own - to make Danny pay and to end his own suffering.  When Danny's niece goes missing, Sara must trust the Witchblade to help her in finding her and the killer.
