Eureka is freed from the substance by the priest but Renton is still treated badly by Holland and forbidden from seeing Eureka.  He is also having a hard time coming to grips with the killing of men in the KLF's.  He eventually sneaks  in to see Eureka and wants to tell her about his feelings for her but she turns away.  He takes this as a rejection and packs his bags to leave.  He winds up parachuting out of the Gekko.
