Mugen convinces the men that he is not Okuru.  Okuru meanwhile leaves Fuu asleep after she had asked him is she could travel with him.  She awakens to see someone in the rocks and screams.  Jin, who is nearby and has just found Fuu's shoe, runs to her aid.  He discovers that she knows of Okuru and they head out to help him.  Mugen has found him and they fight since he has determined that Okuru is a worthy opponent.  They are overtaken by the men looking for Okuru just as Fuu and Jin also arrive.  The men shoot Okuru with flaming arrows and he falls off the cliff and into the water.  Mugen is of the opinion that he is not dead.
