As Ranmaru continues his investigations into the monsters, he is confronted by two men who tell him to drop the case or else.  Ranmaru begins to think about awakening his symbiont and, when Saya gets purposefully run down by a car, he makes up his mind to do it.  Ryoko tells Ranmaru that there are others out there looking for the pieces or trying to help the demons.  One of these groups were most likely involved in the threats and his sister's injuries.  At his old apartment complex, Kureha stabs him through the chest and pushes him into the hole to awaken his symbiont.  Successful, he returns to the surface and easily wipes out the remaining demons there.
