Ranmaru gets transferred into Tokko but his commanding officer Kunikida is upset that he still hold his old job but is no longer answerable to him.  Ryoko is harangued by the Phantom Countermeasures Committee, a group that leads the Tokko division from behind the scenes.  She tells them that she awakened Ranmaru's symbiont in order to help with their fight since more and more monsters are beginning to appear.  Later, Ryoko is targeted and Ranmaru is able to save her at the last minute.  He is also able to see the controlling monster and uses some pretty amazing powers to kill it.
