The Gurren Brigade arrives where the base should be but it isn't there.  In fact, it appears to be moving.  Before they can continue, they fall into an underground village.  They discover a people who have very little food and worship the Gunmen as gods.  They are treated kindly by Rossiu and the head priest of the village but they soon learn how the group have survived by limiting their number to just fifty.  With two orphan kids set to be killed or exiled, the Gurren Brigade heads back to the surface with them and Rossiu in tow.
