Sousuke's old comrade Zaied outwits him and ambushes the ambush.  While they fight, Gauron heads out for the bomb.  His AS is too powerful and he finishes off the remaining soldiers pretty easily.  Sousuke finally realizes that he's fighting an old friend.  Hearing the company die at Gauron's hands causes him to fight off Zaied and head to take on Gauron once again.
