I had mixed feelings about this book.  I had read the Dune Houses books that prepared the way for this and the next books and wasn't overly impressed with them.  I guess it just wasn't the "Dune" writing style.  I wanting to learn the fate of all of the Dune characters from Chapterhouse though...

At the end of Frank Herbert's final novel, Chapterhouse: Dune, a ship carrying refugees escapes into the uncharted galaxy, fleeing from the monstrous Monored Matres, dark counterparts to the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood.  To strengthen their forces, the fugitives have used genetic technology to revive key figures from Dune's past - including Paul Muad'Dib, Lady Jessica, Stilgar, Thufir Hawat, and even Dr. Wellington Yueh.  Each of these characters will use their special talents to meet the challenges thrown at them.

Failure is unthinkable - not only is their survival at stake, but they hold the fate of the entire human race in their hands...

Hunters of Dune is based directly on Frank Herbert's final outline, which lay hidden in two safe-deposit boxes for a decade.  This volume will finally answer the urgent questions Dune fans have been debating to two decades.

"Sit back and enjoy."

  • I try to maintain page numbers for audiobooks even though obviously there aren't any. I do this to keep track of pages read and I try to use the Kindle version page numbers for this.
  • Synopses marked with an asterisk (*) were generated by an AI. There aren't a lot since this is an iffy way to do it - AI seems to make stuff up.
  • When specific publication dates are unknown (ie prefixed with a "Cir"), I try to get the publication date that is closest to the specific printing that I can.
  • When listing chapters, I only list chapters relevant to the story. I will usually leave off Author Notes, Indices, Acknowledgements, etc unless they are relevant to the story or the book is non-fiction.
  • Page numbers on this site are for the end of the main story. I normally do not include appendices, extra material, and other miscellaneous stuff at the end of the book in the page count.
