To
Byron C. Weber
my father, my hero... Dad.

And to my three Tender Warriors:

Kent Byron Weber
my first-born son
and night owl buddy
who bears his grandfather's name

Blake Nathan Weber
my "middle arrow"
and ministry partner
who bears, like the prophet of old,
his own strong name.

Ryan Stuart Weber
my prespective-yielding friend
whose "bear hugs are the best"
and who bears his father's name.

No man could ask for a finer quiver full.
May you impact on target.

And to Linda
my wife, their mother, and the lady
who made us all more tender.
You are the most determined human
being I've ever met.
Thanks, dear!  You're an incredible woman.
How many times can a man hear a wake-up call without waking up?

"This is the time for real men to emerge."

"In the midst of a culture where men desperately grope to understand what it means to be a man, Tender Warrior presents a clearly defined model of Christian manhood, teaching us how to be tender, yet tough - sensitive, yet strong."
RON MEHL, pastor, Beaverton Foursquare Church, Portland, Oregon

"Stu Weber challenges us to be the men which God intended.  For the sake of our wives, our children, and our nation, I hope that every American male will read and heed this memorable book."
DAN COATS, U.S. Senator, Indiana

"First Howard Hendricks spoke and I wanted to speak.  Then Chuck Swindoll crafted phrases that brought black ink to life.  Dobson touted the family, Colson championed the prisoner, and Hybels redefined transparency.  And now... Stu Weber models that type of leadership at a level equal to these men.  Tender Warrior is breakthrough stuff."
DR. RON JENSON, chairman, High/Ground

"Tender Warrior provides hope for men by challenging their assumptions and shaping their convictions.  Read it. Devour it.  Then live it.  This is the time for real men to emerge."
DENNIS RAINEY, executive director; FamilyLife

"Tender Warrior is a passionate, soul-stirring masculine manifesto."
DR. ROBERT LEWIS, pastor; Fellowship Bible Church, Little Rock, Arkansas

"In a day of extremism, you will find a refreshing and respectful balance in Stu Weber's treatment of man and woman, husband and wife, father and son.  It will grip your heart.  You will want to read it again and again."
DR. EARL D, RADMACHER, chancellor; Western Seminary Phoenix

"This book is for every man.  Chapter Eight alone - 'Does Anyone Here Speak Woman?' - is worth the price of the book.  Tender Warrior is truly a 'wake-up call' for men, written by one who personifies confidence in his manhood."
DR. JOE ALDRICH, president, Multnomah School of the Bible

Front flap:
What is a Tender Warrior?

It's tough being a man - especially in a culture that isn't sure what manhood means.  What do women want? many men wonder.  What do people expect of me?  What do my children need?

Leader.  Protector.  Friend.  Lover.  Men are expected to fill a wide variety of roles.  It can be extremely difficult to achieve a healthy balance.  But God has provided a powerful blueprint for balanced manhood, and Stu Weber takes an in-depth, life-changing look at the plan in Tender Warrior.

A TENDER WARRIOR...

* watches out for what lies ahead - like a wagon train scout;
* keeps his commitments, even when it's painful to do so;
* has a tender heart beating beneath his armor;
* recognizes that he is "under higher orders";
* learns to speak "Woman";
* understands that his life will impact generations;
* practices releasing his children like arrows;
* locks arms with other men; and
* looks a lot like Christ.

These characteristics can be yours.  So find out how you can achieve balanced manhood in Tender Warrior, an in-depth look at God's Intention for a Man.

  • I try to maintain page numbers for audiobooks even though obviously there aren't any. I do this to keep track of pages read and I try to use the Kindle version page numbers for this.
  • Synopses marked with an asterisk (*) were generated by an AI. There aren't a lot since this is an iffy way to do it - AI seems to make stuff up.
  • When specific publication dates are unknown (ie prefixed with a "Cir"), I try to get the publication date that is closest to the specific printing that I can.
  • When listing chapters, I only list chapters relevant to the story. I will usually leave off Author Notes, Indices, Acknowledgements, etc unless they are relevant to the story or the book is non-fiction.
  • Page numbers on this site are for the end of the main story. I normally do not include appendices, extra material, and other miscellaneous stuff at the end of the book in the page count.
