From audible.com:

Deep in the African rain forest, near the legendary ruins of the Lost City of Zinj, an expedition of eight American geologists are mysteriously and brutally killed in a matter of minutes.

Ten thousand miles away, Karen Ross, the Congo Project Supervisor, watches a gruesome video transmission of the aftermath: a camp destroyed, tents crushed and torn, equipment scattered in the mud alongside dead bodies - all motionless except for one moving image - a grainy, dark, man-shaped blur.

In San Francisco, primatologist Peter Elliot works with Amy, a gorilla with an extraordinary vocabulary of 620 "signs," the most ever learned by a primate, and she likes to finger paint. But recently her behavior has been erratic and her drawings match, with stunning accuracy, the brittle pages of a Portuguese print dating back to 1642…a drawing of an ancient lost city. A new expedition - along with Amy - is sent into the Congo, where they enter a secret world, and the only way out may be through a horrifying death.....

Congo was adapted to the screen and directed by Frank Marshall.

UNABRIDGED
Michael Crichton, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Jurassic Park, returns to the world of paleontology in this recently discovered novel - a thrilling adventure set in the Wild West during the golden age of fossil hunting.

The year is 1876.  Warring Indian tribes still populate America's western territories even as lawless gold-rush towns begin to mark the landscape.  In much of the country it is still illegal to espouse evolution.  Against this backdrop two monomaniacal paleontologists pillage the Wild West, hunting for dinosaur fossils, while surveilling, deceiving and sabotaging each other in a rivalry that will come to be known as the Bone Wars.

Into this treacherous territory plunges the arrogant and entitled William Johnson, a Yale student with more privilege than sense.  Determined to survive a summer in the west to win a bet against his arch-rival, William has joined world-renowned paleontologist Othniel Charles Marsh on his latest expedition.  But when the paranoid and secretive Marsh becomes convinced that William is spying for his nemesis, Edwin Drinker Cope, he abandons him in Cheyenne, Wyoming, a locus of crime and vice.  William is forced to join forces with Cope and soon stumbles upon a discovery of historic proportions.  With this extraordinary treasure, however, comes exceptional danger, and William's newfound resilience will be tested in his struggle to protect his cache, which pits him against some of the West's most notorious characters.

Drawing on both meticulously researched history and an exuberant imagination, Dragon Teeth is based on the rivalry between real-life paleontologists Cope and Marsh; in William Johnson readers will find an inspiring hero only Michael Crichton could have imagined.  Perfectly paced and brilliantly plotted, this enormously winning adventure is destined to become another Crichton classic.

IN JURASSIC PARK, HE CREATED A TERRIFYING NEW WORLD, NOW, IN MICRO, MICHAEL CRICHTON REVEALS A UNIVERSE TOO SMALL TO SEE AND TOO DANGEROUS TO IGNORE.

IN A LOCKED HONOLULU OFFICE BUILDING, three men are found dead with no sign of struggle except for the ultrafine, razor-sharp cuts covering their bodies.  The only clue left behind is a tiny bladed robot, nearly invisible to the human eye.

IN THE LUSH FORESTS OF OAHU, groundbreaking technology has ushered in a revolutionary era of biological prospecting.  Trillions of microorganisms, tens of thousands of bacteria species, are being discovered; they are feeding a search for priceless drugs and applications on a scale beyond anything previously imagined.

IN CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS, seven graduate students at the forefront of their fields are recruited by a pioneering microbiology start-up.  Nanigen MicroTechnologies dispatches the group to a mysterious lab in Hawaii, where they are promised access to tools that will open a whole new scientific frontier.

BUT ONCE IN THE OAHU RAIN FOREST, the scientists are thrust into a hostile wilderness that reveals profound and surprising dangers at every turn.  Armed only with their knowledge of the natural world, they find themselves prey to a technology of radical and unbridled power.  To survive, they must harness the inherent forces of nature itself.

AN INSTANT CLASSIC, Micro pits nature against technology in vintage Crichton fashion.  Completed by visionary science writer Richard Preston, this boundary-pushing thriller melds scientific fact with pulse-pounding fiction to create yet another masterpiece of sophisticated, cutting-edge entertainment.

Back flap:

MICHAEL CRICHTON has sold over 200 million books, which have been translated into thirty-six languages; thirteen of his books have been made into films.  His novels include Next, State of Fear, Timeline, Jurassic Park, and The Andromeda Strain.  Also known as a filmmaker and the creator of ER, he remains the only writer to have had the number one book, movie, and TV show simultaneously.  At the time of his death in 2008, Crichton was well into the writing of Micro; Richard Preston was selected to complete the novel.

RICHARD PRESTON is an internationally acclaimed bestselling author of eight books, including The Hot Zone and The Wild Trees.  Many of Preston's books have first appeared in The New Yorker.  He has won numerous awards, including the American Institute of Physics Award and the National Magazine Award, and he is the only person not a medical doctor ever to receive the Centers for Disease Control's Champion of Prevention Award for public health.  He lives with his wife and three children near Princeton, New Jersey.

Welcome to our genetic world.  Fast, furious, and out of control.  This is not the world of the future - it's the world right now.

Is a loved one MISSING some BODY PARTS?  Are BLONDES becoming EXTINCT?  Is everyone at your dinner table of the same species?  Humans and chimpanzees differ in only 400 genes: is that why a CHIMP FETUS resembles a human being?  And should that worry us?  There's a NEW GENETIC CURE FOR DRUG ADDICTION - is it worse than the disease?

We live in a time of MOMENTOUS SCIENTIFIC LEAPS, a time when it's possible to SELL OUR EGGS AND SPERM online for thousands of dollars and to test our spouses for genetic maladies.

We live in a time when one fifth of all OUR GENES ARE OWNED by someone else, and an unsuspecting person and his family can be pursued cross-country because they happen to have certain VALUABLE genes within their chromosomes...

Devilishly clever, Next blends fact and fiction into a breathless tale of a new world where NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS and a set of new possibilities can open at every turn.

In Paris, a physicist dies after performing a laboratory experiment for a beautiful visitor.  In the jungles of Malaysia, a mysterious buyer purchases deadly cavitation technology, built to his specifications.  In Vancouver, a small research submarine is leased for use in the waters off New Guinea.  And in Tokyo, an intelligence agent tries to understand what it all means.

Thus begins Michael Crichton's exciting and provocative techno-thriller State of Fear.  Only Crichton's unique ability to blend scientific fact with pulse-pounding fiction could bring such disparate elements to a heart-stopping conclusion.

This is Crichton's most wide-ranging thriller.  State of Fear takes the reader from the glaciers of Iceland to the volcanoes of Antarctica, from the Arizona desert to the deadly jungles of the Solomon Islands, from the streets of Paris to the beaches of Los Angeles.  The novel races forward on a rollercoaster thrill ride, all the while keeping the brain in high gear.  Exciting and provocative, State of Fear is Michael Crichton at his very best.

Michael Crichton was born in Chicago in 1942.  His novels include The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Timeline, and Prey.  He is also the creator of the television series ER.

Performed by George Wilson
