"Superb...  Riveting tensions!"
- PUBLISHERS WEEKLY (STARRED REVIEW)

Joe Pickett is the new game warden in Twelve Sleep, Wyoming, a town where nearly everyone hunts and the game warden - especially one like Joe, who won't take bribes or look the other way - is always far from popular.  When Joe finds a local hunting outfitter dead, splayed out on the woodpile behind his state-owned home, he takes it personally - and thrusts himself into a mystery that threatens the life and family he loves.

"Box's book has it all - suspenseful plot, magnificent scenery, and a flawed male hero who is tough but truly connected to his family....  Profoundly memorable."  - BOSTON HERALD

"Open Season rings true....  Full of the kind of grittiness a reader can expect from a place where blood and bone are not just the stuff of crime fiction, but of sport and survival, too."  - THE DENVER POST

When a massive blast rocks the forests of Twelve Sleep County, Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett is called to the scene to help investigate the death of a colorful environmental activist.  The case is wrapped up quickly, explained as an environmental publicity stunt gone wrong, but Joe isn't convinced.  He soon discovers clues that suggest a deadly conspiracy - one that will test his courage, his survival skills, and his determination to "do the right thing" despite all costs.

(The New York Times Book Review).

It's an hour away from darkness, a bitter winter storm is raging, and Joe Pickett is deep in the forest edging Battle Mountain, shotgun in his left hand, his truck's detached steering wheel handcuffed to his right - and Lamar Gardiner's arrow-riddled corpse splayed against the tree in front of him.  Lamar's murder and the sudden onslaught of the snowstorm warn, get off the mountain.  But Joe knows this episode is far from over.  Somewhere in the dense timber, a killer draws his bowstring - with Joe as his prey...

Joe Pickett's been hired to investigate one of the most cold-blood mass killings in Wyoming history.  Attorney Clay McCann admitted to slaughtering four campers in a backcountry corner of Yellowstone National Park, a "free-fire" zone with no residents or government regulation.  In this remote fifty-square-mile stretch a man can literally get away with murder.  Now McCann's a free man, and Pickett's about to discover his motive - one buried in Yellowstone's rugged terrain, and as dangerous as the man who wants to keep it hidden.

Nowhere to Run
A Joe Pickett Novel

Edgar, Anthony, Macavity, Gumshoe, and Barry Award winner C. J. Box delivers the 10th explosive novel in his acclaimed Joe Pickett series.  In Nowhere to Run, Box's intrepid game warden has no idea he's headed into the jaws of death when he ascends a remote mountain near Baggs, Wyoming.

Ever since a world-class runner went missing two years ago, locals steer clear of the towering peak near Battle Pass.  They're convinced it's haunted by the flesh-eating Wendigo of Indian lore.  As Pickett rides up this slope to investigate reports of a bizarre elk poaching, even the skeptical veteran feels a strange foreboding.  And when arrows from unseen stalkers strike Pickett and his steeds, the rugged outdoorsman must draw on his dwindling resources to fight off death and elude his cunning pursuers.

David Chandler's riveting narration brilliantly illuminates Box's breathtaking prose in this compelling tale of injustice, corruption, and courage.

Joe Pickett always liked Butch Roberson - a hard-working local business owner whose daughter is friends with his own.  Little does he know that when Butch says he is heading into the mountains to scout elk, he is actually going on the run.

Two EPA employees have been murdered, and all signs point to Butch as the killer.  Soon, Joe hears of the land Butch and his wife had bought to retire on - until they are told the EPA declared it a wetland - and the penalties the agency charged Butch until the family was torn apart.  Finally, it seems, the man just cracked.

It's an awful story.  But is it the whole story?  The more Joe investigates, the more he begins to wonder - and the more he finds himself in the middle of a war in which he must choose sides.

Stone Cold
A Joe Pickett Novel

The electrifying new Joe Pickett novel from the New York Times bestselling author.

Everything about the man is a mystery: the massive ranch in the remote Black Hills of Wyoming that nobody ever visits, the women who live with him, the secret philanthropies, the private airstrip, the sudden disappearances.  And especially the persistent rumors that the man's wealth comes from killing people.

Joe Pickett, still officially a game warden but now mostly a troubleshooter for the governor, is assigned to find out what the truth is, but he discovers a lot more than he'd bargained for.  There are two other men living up at that ranch.  One is a stone-cold killer who takes an instant dislike to Joe.  The other is new - but Joe knows him all too well.  The first man doesn't frighten Joe.  The second is another story entirely.

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Joe Pickett series comes a thrilling collection of suspense stories about the Wyoming he knows so Well - and the dark deeds and impulses that can be found there....

In "One-Car Bridge," one of four Joe Pickett stories, Pickett goes up against a just-plain-mean landowner, with disastrous results.  In "Shots Fired," his investigation into a radio call nearly ends up being the last thing he ever does.  "Pirates of Yellowstone" features two Eastern European tough guys who find out what it means to be strangers in a strange land, and in "Le Sauvage Noble" the stranger is a Lakota in Paris who enjoys playing the noble savage for the French women - until he meets Sophie.  Then he discovers what savage really means....

C. J. Box has been hailed for the brilliant storytelling that defines his novels.  That same brilliance is here in the ten riveting stories - three of them never before published - that make up Shots Fired.

Endangered
A Joe Pickett Novel

Joe Pickett has lived through plenty of danger, but this time it's his daughter's life at stake - and Joe and his family will be tested as never before.

The critics were unanimous about Stone Cold: "A suspenseful, action-filled ride" (The Denver Post).  "Another dandy tale - with an even dandier surprise ending" (St. Louis Post-Dispatch).  "With each book, Box just gets better" (Library Journal)

With Endangered, he does it again - but this time the stakes are even higher.

She was gone.  Joe Pickett had good reason to dislike Dallas Cates, even if he was a rodeo champion, and now he has even more: Joe's eighteen-year-old daughter, April, has run off with him.

And then comes even worse news: The body of a girl has been found in a ditch along the highway - alive, but just barely, the victim of blunt force trauma.  It is April, and the doctors don't know if she'll recover.  Cates denies having anything to do with it - says she ran off from him, too - and there's evidence that points to another man.  But Joe knows in his gut who's responsible.  What he doesn't know is the kind of danger he's about to encounter.  Cates is bad enough, but Cates's family is like none Joe has ever met before.

Joe's going to find out the truth, even if it kills him.  And this time, it just might.

Vicious Circle
A Joe Pickett Novel

The plane circled in the dark.  Joe Pickett could just make out down below a figure in the snow and timber, and then three other figures closing in.  There was nothing he could do about it.  And Joe knew that he might be next.

The Cates family had always been a bad lot.  Joe had been able to strike a fierce blow against them when they'd critically endangered the life of his daughter April, but he'd always wondered if there'd be a day of reckoning.

He's not wondering any longer.  Joe knows they're coming after him and his family now.  Dallas Cates is out of prison, and even though his brother and father are dead and his mother wheelchair-bound in jail, he is a force full of malevolent power.

Joe has his friend Nate Romanowski by his side, but will that be enough this time?  All he can do is plan, and wait for them to make the first move.  But when it comes, it is in a way for which no amount of planning could have prepared him.

"Joe Pickett, the conscientious game warden in these rugged novels... shows the tough-and-tender qualities that make him such a great guy to have on your side."
-THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW

Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett has to contend with two cases, both of them lethal - and one of them surprisingly close to home.

Wyoming's new governor isn't sure what to make of Joe Pickett, but he has a job for him that is extremely delicate.  A prominent British businesswoman never came home from the high-end guest ranch she was visiting, and the British Embassy is pressing hard.

At the same time, his friend Nate Romanowski has asked Joe to intervene with the feds on behalf of an issue passionately felt by falconers, but inexplicably being blocked.  It seems like a matter of lesser importance to Joe right now, but the more he digs into both cases, the more someone is trying to stop him.  Is it because of the missing woman or the falconers?  Or are they somehow connected?

Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett and his wife, Marybeth, make separate discoveries that put the Pickett family in a pair of killers' crosshairs in this thrilling new novel in the bestselling series.

A day before the three Pickett girls come home for Thanksgiving, Joe is called out for a moose-poaching incident that turns out to be something much more sinister: a local fishing guide has been brutally tortured and murdered.  At the same time, Marybeth opens an unmarked package at the library where she works and finds a photo album that belonged to an infamous Nazi official.  Who left it there?  And why?

She learns that during World War II, several Wyoming soldiers were part of the first American company to reach Hitler's Eagle's Nest retreat in the Alps - and one of them took the Führer's personal photo album.  Did another take this one and keep it all these years?  When a close neighbor is murdered, Joe and Marybeth face new questions: Who is after the book?  And how will they solve its mystery before someone hurts them... or their girls?

Meanwhile, Nate Romanowski is on the hunt for the man who stole his falcons and attacked his wife.  Using a network of fellow falconers, Nate tracks the man from one city to another.  Even as he grasps the true threat his quarry presents, Nate swoops in for the kill - and a stunning final showdown.

W
hile tracking a wounded elk in the midst of an epic Rocky Mountain spring snowstorm, Joe Pickett makes a startling and gruesome discovery: the frozen and mutilated body of a man who has obviously trespassed on a private ranch and was killed near the location of a mysterious high-tech structure.  Joe also finds the man's vehicle on an isolated mountainside - the victim's ID indicates that he is a prominent University of Wyoming professor.  When Joe attempts to learn more, his investigation is obstructed by federal agents, extremists, and Governor Colter Allen.

Nate Romanowski is rebuilding his falconry company - and financing this through crypto mining with the assistance of Geronimo Jones.  Nate is then approached by a shadowy group of local militant activists that is gaining in power and influence, and demanding that Wyoming join other western states and secede from the union - by force, if necessary.  They ask Nate to throw in with them, but he's wary.  Should he trust them, or is he being set up?
