Full name was William McNeil Bell Sr and was also known as "Big Bill".
He was an assistant coach at Howard University from 1932 to 1933. He became the head coach at Claflin University from 1934 to 1935. After Florida A&M he becase the head coach at North Carolina A&T from 1946 until 1956.
He served as athletic director at Claflin from 1934 to 1936 and at North Carolina A&T sometime around 1968. He was also the AD at Fayetteville State from 1969 until 1975.
