Ayeka is dreaming of a time many years ago and about her brother. The dream starts off rather nice but turns into a memory of Ryoko attacking the planet. Her brother leaves to follow Ryoko and Ayeka is left running in the dark. She sees Yosho, her brother, but when he turns around it is Tenchi telling her that Yosho is dead. Ayeka awakes screaming. She walks over to peer out the window and notices Ryoko walking out towards the lake. Ryoko walks into the middle of the lake and picks up an egg-like object holding it dearly.
Sasami talks Ayeka into leaving her room and she finally agrees. When they get downstairs Tenchi is not there but Ryoko is. Sasami notices the egg that Ryoko is holding and thinks that it is Ryoko's. Tenchi walks into the room and Ayeka thanks him for his hospitality. Ryoko decides to play on Sasami's notion that the egg is hers and tells them that the father is Tenchi. This causes quite an uproar. The egg hatches and Ryo-Ohki pops out. Ryoko tells them that her ship was destroyed but that it was able to reproduce itself. Ayeka runs from the room thinking that everyone is making fun of her and runs into Katsuhito, Tenchi grandfather. There seems to be a glimmer of recognition in her eyes before she apologizes and leaves.
In the other room Sasami watches Ryo-Ohki and they start to become friends. Ryoko tries again to get the sword from Tenchi but he tells her he gave it to Ayeka. Tenchi's grandfather enters the room as Ryoko backs into him. Because his hands end up in a place they shouldn't, she makes a jab at him which he easily blocks. Grandfather plays along with the "Tenchi's baby" gag and Tenchi goes out the back door. Ryo-Ohki phases through the window to reach Ayeka out by the lake and Ryoko destroys the stairs wondering how her punch could have so little effect on Katsuhito.
Ayeka makes her way up to the shrine, getting away from Ryo-Ohki, when she notices a flower. It is a Royal Teardrop, the same kind that she had given to Yosho in her dream, a Juraian flower. Ryo-Ohki gives her another type of flower that cheers her a little.
In the house Ryoko rummages through Ayeka's things looking for the sword.
Ayeka sits with Ryo-Ohki and thinks to herself that her brother may still be alive when Ryo-Ohki takes off into the woods. Ayeka follows after her and discovers Tenchi practicing swords with his grandfather. She recognizes some of the moves as being similar to the ones taught on Jurai to the royal family. She falls from her vantage point and distracts Tenchi who gets clobbered on the head. Ayeka has twisted her ankle and Tenchi's grandfather suggests that Tenchi carry her back down to the house. He leaves before Ayeka can ask about the sword training techniques.
It starts to rain and Tenchi and Ayeka stop at a tool shed to take shelter. He starts a fire so that Ayeka can keep warm and steps outside to give her some privacy. As she is getting out of her wet clothes she's startled by Ryo-Ohki. Hearing the scream, Tenchi opens the door and Ayeka runs to him. Ayeka asks Tenchi to stay in the warmth and they talk about events up to now. She explains that she must search for her brother since she cannot leave Earth and Tenchi, feeling responsible, tells her she can stay at the house as long as she wishes.
It stops raining and the start off towards the house once again. On the way, Ayeka notices a tree and want to take a closer look. She tells Tenchi that this tree is Funaho, her brother's ship. She accesses the tree's memory and see the events that led up to the imprisonment of Ryoko. Ayeka says that since the tree is here then, so must her brother. She apologizes to Tenchi and gives him back the sword since he is related to her by blood. Sasami and Ryoko find them and Ryoko tries to get the gems from the sword once again. Ryoko realizes that Tenchi is not going to give her the gems and goes off saying that she won't help them now. Ayeka leads Tenchi back along the path.
