Shino tells Koinosuke that Jiyuu is not used to fighting with only one eye and Koinosuke goes the Jubei's grave to find guidance in teaching her how to overcome this.  Jiyuu has a new teacher but, when she tests him with the name Jubei and shows him the eyepatch, he doesn't react.  Perhaps this teacher isn;t out to get her...  Later Shino takes Jiyuu to the kendo gym in order to help her but she was nothing to do with it.  Seeing that his help won't work, he challenges her.  He goes to tell his brother Hajime but he says that if he would have known earlier he wouldn't have sent the assassins after her.  Shino falls into a trap and cannot warn Jiyuu.  Later when Jiyuu is met by the new assassins, she realizes that she will have to fight without a sword.
