Lenard is going to do something that will change the world.  Not really believing him, Shannon says that they will not interfere but that they will not help either.  Raquel, studying the magic that creates the illusion decides that it is too much for just one man and so goes with Shannon to investigate the source.  Pacifica, in the meantime, wants to go help Bergens since he has been locked up and the villagers seem to be preoccupied with their ritual.  Raquel discovers that Lenard is using comatose people to augment his magical abilities in order to fuel a military grade spell.  She understands that he wants to wipe out Grendel and overthrow Mauser but instead finds that the weapon will only destroy the village and all of it's inhabitants.  Shannon and Raquel joined by Pacifica and Bergens left the village and find Lenard and Elfintine escaping.  They discover the Lenard is actually a deranged Mauser Inquisitor seeking glory for killing heretics.  After confronted by the truth, Elfintine returns to the village to convince the people to stop what they are doing.
