Shinobu is a girl that Keitaro met briefly the day before.  He accidentally left his sketch book and she tries to return it to him.  Her last day at school is approaching and she must tell them goodbye.  He parents are getting a divorce and things have been horrible for her.  When Keitaro offers (more or less) to let her stay at the apartments in exchange for cooking meals, she accepts.
