The Doctor had taken a brief diversion into the equipment stores of the TARDIS.  He returned to the dining room laden down with components, some of which he hoped to be able to wire in to the hotel's systems.
    Bryan Melrose was straining at his bonds.  The Doctor shook his head and tutted to himself.  He deposited his burden on the floor and checked Ben's knots.  They were holding well.  'I really don't think you'll escape, you know,' he said.  'And if you did, what then?  You must know how the Selachians feel about being let down.  If you run to them, they're most likely to kill you.'
    He was only confirming Melrose's fears, and the haunted look in the accountant's eyes proved it.  He continued more sympathetically, 'The best you can hope for is imprisonment on Earth.  If you help me, you might get a lighter sentence - although murder is a grave offense.'
