AP Recap

STILLWATER, Okla. – No.7/7/7 Oklahoma State (11-1, 8-1 Big 12) topped No. 10/10/9 Oklahoma (10-2, 7-2 Big 12) 37-33 to win for the first time in seven meetings Saturday evening at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Kennedy Brooks rushed for 139 yards bringing his season total to 1,111. Brooks is just the fourth Sooner in program history to record three 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He joins De'Mond Parker (1996-'98), Adrian Peterson (2004-'06) and Samaje Perine (2014-'16).

The teams traded scores over six consecutive possessions in the first half. Oklahoma State struck first but the Sooners quickly tied things up five plays later as Brian Darby grabbed an 11-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Williams. It was the sophomore wide receiver's second touchdown reception of the season. After a 4-yard touchdown reception by OSU's Tay Martin (his second of the first quarter), Williams found Austin Stogner for a 29-yard score to tie it up 14-all.

OSU's Brennan Presley returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, before OU cut it to 21-17 on a 24-yard field goal by Gabe Brkic. The Cowboys responded with a 27-yard make and OU tied the game once again, 24-24, on a 10-yard touchdown grab by Brayden Willis just before halftime.

In the third quarter, the Sooners scored nine points quickly on a safety and a muffed punt recovered for a touchdown. Perrion Winfrey blew through the line of scrimmage at the OSU 4-yard line and forced a fumble that was recovered in the end zone by a Cowboys lineman. The safety, with 12:16 on the clock, put the Sooners ahead for the first time in the game. On OU's ensuing possession, Michael Turk's punt was muffed at the at the OSU 8-yard line and recovered by Justin Broiles in the end zone to put OU ahead 33-24.

The Cowboys scored a pair of touchdowns early in the fourth quarter to take a 37-33 lead. Spencer Sanders rushed for a 37-yard score and Jaylen Warren scored on a 1-yard run after a muffed punt by OU gave OSU the ball at the 5-yard line.

The Sooners had two possessions with less than five minutes to play, but were turned away on downs in OSU territory on both. Oklahoma forced a punt and took over with 54 seconds remaining. Williams opened with a 56-yard run to the OSU 24, but three incompletions in the end zone and a sack ended OU's hopes of pulling out a last-minute victory.

Williams completed 20 of 39 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 19 times for 36 yards.

Brian Asamoah led the Sooners with 11 tackles while Woodi Washington registered two interceptions and a season-best seven stops. Nik Bonitto and Perrion Winfrey each finished with two tackles for loss and forced a fumble.
