China, 1800, and the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe arrive at the English Trade Concession in Canton.

A supposedly harmless relic known as the Spirit Gate becomes active and whisks Jamie and Zoe into the future. The Doctor follows in the TARDIS and arrives in England, 1900, where the descendents of an English merchant from 1800 are gathering.

Among their number is a young man called Carnacki, an expert in all things mystical, and before long he is helping the Doctor investigate a series of bizarre murders in the house.

The spirits of the past have returned, and when the Doctor discovers that the house and surrounds have literally been taken out of space and time, he realises that their attacker may not be all they seem.

The Doctor is in trouble. He has his own race to win. Stuck in a parallel dimension, pursuing the mysterious Sabbath, he must unravel a complex plot in which he himself may be a pawn.

A water that propels vast, technological yachts across its waves at inconceivable speeds. All in all, an indulgent, boastful demonstration of power by Earth's ruthless multi-stellar corporations.

The leaders on planet Earth think that the Magnate is a mysterious 'shadow Government' that controls the world.  It isn't.  The leaders believe the Network to be a ramshackle, paranoid outfit of European anarchists who will eventually blow themselves up.  They won't.  The leaders believe that if there are humans who can control things with their minds - ESPnets - they're few and far between, and not worth worrying about.  They're wrong.  The leaders believe that one minute after midnight on 31 December 1993, a new year, full of promise, will begin.  They're wrong.

The Doctor and Mel arrive on Earth just days before New Year.  An old friend has been kidnapped and taken to France.  And two murderious enemies are setting up a new life in the Peak DIstrict.  Which of these threats should the Doctor deal with first?  And why is his old travelling companion Evelyn Smythe using her knownledge of the future to make a fortune from chocolate cake resipes?!

Five years ago, Sam Jones was just a schoolgirl from Shoreditch.  Of course, that was before she met up with the Doctor and discovered that her entire life had been stage-managed by a time-travelling voodoo cult.  Funny how things turn out, isn't it?

Now Sam's back in her own time, fighting the good fight in a world of political treachery, international subterfuge and good old-fashioned depravity.  But she's about to learn the first great truth of the universe: that however corrupt and amoral your own race may be, there's always someone in the galaxy that can make you look like a beginner.

Ms Jones has just become a minor player in a million-year-old power struggle… and as it happens, so has the Doctor.

Both of him, actually.

They call it the Dead Frontier.  Its as far from home as the human race ever went, the planet where mankind dumped the waste of its thousand year empire and left its culture out in the sun to rot.

Earth has been invaded. Twice. Thousands of years ago by a race searching for a new power source. More recently by the galactic marauders known as the Cat-People, who intend to continue the work done by the earlier visitors, with devastating results.

The recently regenerated Doctor, along with companions Ben and Polly, teams up with a group of amateur ghost-hunters and a mysterious white witch on a journey that takes them from twentieth-century Combria to the Arabian deserts of folklore and Australia 40,000 years in the past. Can the Doctor stop the invaders and disarm the bombs left buried beneath the planet's surface - or have the ancient Aborigines of Australia sung the seeds of their own destruction?
