From audible.com:

The story of John C. Houbolt, an unsung hero of Apollo 11 and the man who showed NASA how to put America on the moon.

Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon.

Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space.

Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable. But this junior engineer was irrepressible. He stood by his concept, fired off memos to executives, and argued that LOR was the only way to success.

For the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11, hear the untold story of the man who helped fulfill Kennedy’s challenge to reach the moon and begin exploring the final frontier.

MERE CHRISTIANITY

First broadcast as informal radio "talks" and later published as three separate books.  The Case for Christianity, Christian Behaviour, and Beyond Personality are presented together in Mere Christianity.  In his remarkably  direct and accessible style, the renowned Christian apologist shows how the power of Christianity manifests itself - not in any single denomination but as "mere" Christianity, a total force.  For Lewis sets out to prove only that "in the center of each there is something, or a Someone, who against all divergencies of belief, all differences of temperament, all memories of mutual persecution, speaks with the same voice."

"Lewis is the ideal persuader for the half-convinced, for the good man who would like to be a Christian but finds his intellect getting in the way." - Anthony Burgess, The New York Times Book Review

"The point about reading C. S. Lewis is that he makes you sure, whatever you believe, that religion accepted or rejected means something extremely serious, demanding the entire energy of the mind." - Harpers

"If wit and wisdom, style and scholarship are requisites to passage through the pearly gates, Mr. Lewis will be among the angels." - The New Yorker

"A legacy of solid, genial Christianity." - Commonweal

C. S. Lewis was a professor at Cambridge and Oxford universities.  His other bestselling books include The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Space Trilogy, all available from Collier Books.

FOR THE FIRST TIME ANYWHERE, THE FIRST-PERSON ACCOUNT OF THE PLANNING AND EXECUTION OF THE BIN LADEN RAID FROM A NAVY SEAL WHO CONFRONTED THE TERRORIST MASTERMIND AND WITNESSED HIS FINAL MOMENTS

From the streets of Iraq to the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips in the Indian Ocean, and from the mountaintops of Afghanistan to the third floor of Osama bin Laden's compound, operator Mark Owen of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group - commonly known as SEAL Team Six - has been a part of some of the most memorable special operations in history, as well as countless missions that never made headlines.

No Easy Day puts readers alongside Owen and the other handpicked members of the twenty-four-man team as they train for the biggest mission of their lives.  The blow-by-blow narrative of the assault, beginning with the helicopter crash that could have ended Owen's life straight through to the radio call confirming Bin Laden's death, is an essential piece of modern history.

In No Easy Day, Owen also takes readers onto the field of battle in America's ongoing War on Terror and details the selection and training process for one of the most elite units in the military. Owen's story draws on his youth in Alaska and describes the SEALs' quest to challenge them-selves at the highest levels of physical and mental endurance.  With boots-on-the-ground detail, Owen describes numerous previously unreported missions that illustrate the life and work of a SEAL and the evolution of the team after

The events of September 11.  In telling the true story of the SEALs whose talents, skills, experiences, and exceptional sacrifices led to one of the greatest victories in the War on Terror, Mark Owen honors the men who risk everything for our country, and he leaves readers with a deep understand-ing of the warriors who keep America safe.

MARK OWEN is a former member of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group, commonly known as SEAL Team Six.  In his many years as a Navy SEAL, he has participated in hundreds of missions around the globe, including the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips in the Indian Ocean in 2009.  Owen was a team leader on Operation Neptune Spear in Abbottabad, Pakistan, on May 1, 2011, which resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden.  Owen was one of the first men through the door on the third floor of the terrorist mastermind's hideout, where he witnessed Bin Laden's death.  Mark Owen's name and the names of the other SEALs mentioned in No Easy Day have been changed for their security.

KEVIN MAURER has covered special operations forces for nine years.  He has been embedded with the Special Forces in Afghanistan six times, spent a month in 2006 with special operations units in east Africa, and has embedded with U.S. forces in Iraq and Haiti.  He is the author of four books, including several about special operations.

Noah's Ark:
Fable or Fact?

Does Noah's Ark still exist?  Can modern man still believe the ancient Biblical story of the Flood?  Can we accept the as truth the ever-increasing rumors that Noah's great ship has been sighted, and even photographed and entered, during the past century of time?  Is it possible that the widely-publicized and frequently-displayed pieces of hand-tooled timber recovered by Fernand Navarra from a crevasse high on Mount Ararat in 1955, and again in 1969, were once actually a part of the Ark?

These, and many other questions relating to this controversial subject, have stirred the imagination and excited the curiosity of many thoughtful persons today.  To provide satisfactory answers to as many of these questions as possible is the purpose of this book.  It is the result of 27 years of persistent, painstaking investigation into the subject by Eryl Cummings, and contains authenticated accounts of the various reported modern sightings of the Ark since 1840.

This fascinating book by Violet Cummings, wife of the famed explorer who has five times climbed the Mountain of Ararat in attempts to rediscover the Ark of Noah, examines the evidence of the ten expeditions who have sighted the Ark in the last 117 years.

THE NORMANS were a relatively short-lived cultural and political phenomenon.  They emerged early in the tenth century and had disappeared off the map by the mid-thirteenth century.  Yet in that time they had conquered England, southern Italy and Sicily, and had established outposts in north Africa and in the Levant.

The reality is that, even within this short time span, the Normans changed as time and place dictated from Norse invaders to Frankish crusaders to Byzantine overlords to feudal monarchs.  In the end their contribution to medieval culture was largely as a catalyst for other, older traditions.

From audible.com:

Sherlock Holmes is the most portrayed fictional character of all time, and he has been reimagined by actors, playwrights and directors over centuries - but who is the creator behind the detective?

Conan Doyle’s own life was often stranger than fiction, and his most famous characters’ stories and personalities bear more than a passing resemblance to his own life and his closest friends.

Biographer and broadcaster Lucinda Hawksley gains unprecedented access to a treasure trove of Doyle’s never-before-seen personal letters and diaries. This is a chance for Sherlock fans to see their detective hero and his creator as they’ve never seen them before. Through interviews with Doyle aficionados, academics, actors and family members, we explore Doyle’s travels and sailing adventures across the globe, his pioneering work as a doctor, his life in the Freemasons and his fights against miscarriages of justice. As well as his many triumphs, we will also explore the challenges he faced, from the death of his first wife and son to the initial rejection he faced as an author.

We will also look beyond Sherlock to Doyle’s other great works including his fantasy and science fiction novels and hear how one of his most famous, The Lost World, part-inspired Michael Crichton’s book of the same name, which became the successful Jurassic Park film franchise.

IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE...

STROLL through Washington, D.C., with Newt Gingrich to view the significant monuments, memorials, and documents found in our nation's capital, and you will quickly find yourself on a profound and surprising walk of discovery and renewal.

Your first stop will be the National Archives, where Thomas Jefferson's immortal words from the Declaration of Independance that all "are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights," jump off the page with the inescapable truth that from day one in our country's history, the author of freedom was neither the state nor even the Founding Fathers.

Building on the message from his bestselling book, Winning the Future, Gingrish sounds a clarion call for us to rediscover that America's greatness is firmly rooted in out ongoing history as a nation under God.

Front Flap:
An Invitation

REdiscovering God in America is my invitation for you to join me on a walk through America's capital city, Washington, D.C.

The walking tour is not just a look at the architecture and beauty of our nation's capital; it is a tour of American history, of the great men and women, the great events, the great documents and great institutions, the great ideas - all shaped decisively by the genuine belief that we are a nation under God - that are at the heart of our freedom as Americans and our identity as a people.

The next time a friend or colleague says that religeous expression has no place in the public square and the discussion of God has no place in our children's history and government classes, you will only need to tell them about what you experienced on this simple walk to remind them of God's role in America's history - and America's future.

Your friend,
Newt Gingrich

- The New York Time Book Review

Rush Limbaugh, America's #1 radio talk-show host, bounded to the top of the bestseller lists with the record-breaking The Way Things Ought to Be, a New York Times bestseller for a year and, remarkably, #1 for 25 weeks and counting!  The fastest-selling book in the country, The Way Things Ought to Be has sold, as one of Rush's devoted callers informed him, "better than ice water in hell."  Rush's syndicated radio show reaches more than 20 million listeners per week and his syndicated TV show blankets 99 percent of America.  Now, this consummate entertainer and provocative politcal commentator, whom conservatives love and liberals love to hate - this "harmless little fuzzball" who delights in being called "The Most Dangerous Man in America" - is about to make publishing history again with SEE, I TOLD YOU SO.

The Democrats may be in the White House - but even President Clinton can't ruin this country in only four years, proclaims Rush.

Conservativism's most outspoken champion, Rush leads the charge to embrace and defend the fundamental values that have shaped the American character: belief in God, devotion to family, law and order, self-reliance, rugged individualism, commitment to excellence, rewarding achievment, and... the notion that the woman is always right.  Not coincidentally, notes Rush, these values that cause liberals to have conniptions are the same concepts that contitute modern conservatism, which is contantly being distorted by the dominant media.  But what underlies the liberal agenda of political correctness, multiculturalism, environmentalism, the assault on family values, radical feminism, and even Bill Clinton's tax bill?  Desperation! says Rush - a mentality of chaos, frenzy, hysteria, despair, and total panic.  Ever the optimist, Rush sees the "pernicious liberal movement" as a philosophy whose inevitable demise will lead us back to the values that make America great.

As no less a liberal than Ted Koppel, quoted in Vanity Fait, said, "What [Limbaugh] clearly has become over the last two or three years is something of an icon to millions of conservative listeners around the country.  I think it would be too easy to dismiss his a being irrelevant to the shaping of opinion in this country today.  He's very smart, he does his homework.  He is well informed.  And you ignore him at your peril."

RUSH LIMBAUGH was born in Cape Girardeau Missouri, a "quintessential Midwestern small town," where he fell in love with radio in elementary school.  He became a Top-40 deejay in the 1960s and held various other jobs before finding his true calling as a radio talk show host at KFBK in Sacramento.  In 1988 his radio show went national, and it can now be heard in over 616 markets across the country.  Limbaugh makes his home in New York City and divides his time between his daily radio show, speaking engagements, and an upcoming nationally syndicated television show.

"A practical handbook of spiritual development...  [Fox] gives his readers a profound outlook upon life, and an absolutely fresh scale of values."
- The New York Times Book Review

What did Jesus teach?  Distilled from years of study and lecture, affirmed by nearly a million readers over the last fifty years, Emmet Fox's answer in The Sermon on the Mount is simple.  The Bible is a "textbook of metaphysics" and the teachings of Jesus express - without dogma - a practical approach for the development of the soul and for the shaping of our lives into what we really wish them to be.  For Fox, Jesus was "no sentimental dreamer, no mere dealer in empty platitudes, but the unflinching realist that only a great mystic can be."

In his most popular work, Emmet Fox shows how to:
  • Understand the true nature of divine wisdom
  • Tap into the power of prayer
  • Develop a completly integrated and fully expressed personality
  • Transform negative attitudes into life-affirming beliefs
  • Claim our divine right to the full abundance of life

Scientist, philosopher, and spiritual teacher, Emmet Fox (1886-1951) lectured widely on his method for tapping the realm of infinite power that surrounds us.

From amazon.com:

As the truth comes out about CoVid and the catastrophically bad response to it fueled by news media hysteria, government incompetence and corporate greed, there are bound to be many cases of "amnesia" about what we knew and when we knew it.

This book, a collection of blog posts by Ken McCarthy edited by Paul Morrison, shows with time-stamped clarity that the multi-layered frauds that were used to sell this CoVid panic were apparent virtually from Day One.

A huge amount of what we call “business savvy” is the ability to see through bullshit: the bullshit of vendors... the bullshit of gurus... the bullshit of lawyers... the bullshit of accountants... the bullshit of government officials... the bullshit of the news media... the bullshit of academics... the bullshit of doctors... and more.

If you want to see what thinking for yourself in the face of an onslaught of government and news media bullshit looks like in practice, this book is an example.

"Rush has captured the sense of average Americans - that much of what we see going on around us is just plain crazy....  Real Americans who believe in traditional values will love this book.  It will drive his critics over the brink."
- Lt. Col. Oliver North, USMC (Ret.)

RUSH LIMBAUGH,
AMERICA'S MOST POPULAR RADIO STAR, SOUNDS OFF ON:

"RUSH LIMBAUGH... Many feel that I need to be balanced with equal time.  Wrong, I am equal time."

"MORALITY cannot be defined by individual choice."

"MULRICULTURALISM is the tool of revenge for those who have failed to make it in the American establishment."

"THE AMERICAN ECONOMY cannot be revived without someone getting rich: why not me?"

"Whenever I hear Rush Limbaugh I marvel on two counts, the first that is war on Political Correctness is tolerated, the second, that it is enjoyed even the liberals (the Germans called that Schadenfreude, the wretchedly paradoxical joy that some people take from pain).  It's like a jolt of champagne for most of us, reorienting the day, reassuring us that social disorders haven't disturbed the essential movements of the planet."
- William F. Buckley, Jr., Editor at Large, National Review

This is Rush Limbaugh at his best - full of verve, humor and insight.  Everyone knows Rush Limbaugh is a national phenomenon.  But he is more than that; he is a national resource.  In this book Rush Limbaugh tells us not only the way things ought to be, but why they ought to be."
- William J. Bennett, Former Secretary of Education and Drug Czar

THE WAY THINGS OUGHT TO BE

RUSH LIMBAUGH

He's a man... a legend... a way of life for over twelve million avid and devoted weekly listeners: Rush Limbaugh, whose flamboyant, infectious, infuriating daily talkathon, "The Rush Limbaugh Show," has made him the most popular radio talk show host in America.

For three hours every day this comic conservative of the airwaves with "talent on loan from Gad" entertains, provokes and persuades friends and enemies alike in a no-holds-barred show that is one of the biggest draws in radio history.  Limbaugh's unique blend of conservatism and irreverent humor has aroused the indignation of some listeners and made him a hero to millions more.  THE WAY THINGS OUGHT TO BE presents Limbaugh at his satirical best, firing gleeful rants and ingenious taunts at everything from political correctness to the Social Utopians of Multiculturalism - with devastating aim.

Using personal anecdotes, Limbaugh reveals the major influences on his life and views, and blasts off on all the leading issues of our day.  Nothing escapes his acerbic wit and huggable charm as he proves why he is on the cutting edge of societal evolution and the epitome of morality and virtue, holding forth on such subjects as: Anita Hill, The Imperial Congress, The Homeless Fraud, The Earth Is Not Fragile, Ross Perot, The Media, The Rodney King Aftermath, and The Culture War.  For the uninitiated, there's also a Limbaugh Lexicon, including Gorbasms (the fake feeling of bliss when thinking of M. Gorbachev, fixer of everything), Feminazis, Uglo-Americans and Environmental Wackos.

One thing is undeniable: whatever else Limbaugh's fans and foes have labelled him, he is first, last and always a consummate entertainer.  Larger than life on and off the air (although getting smaller of the air), he is a politico-comic mix who has wielded the dual-edged sword of brilliance and satire to become the unrivaled Big Guy of Talk Radio.  Here is Rush Limbaugh - the provocative conservative who for millions of fans is the best source of American common sense today, and the showman who "is documented to be almost always right 87.9% if the time" about THE WAY THINGS OUGHT TO BE.

In 1988 his radio show went national, and it can now be heard in over 500 markets across the country.  Limbaugh makes his home in New York City and divides his time between his daily radio show, speaking engagements, and an upcoming nationally syndicated television show.

Praise for Weird

"I've got bad news: 'Normal' stinks! The normal family is broke, stressed, over-worked, and generally unhappy.  If we want God's best for our families, faith, and finances, we've got to stop striving for normal - and start being weird!"
- Dave Ramsey, host of The Dave Ramsey Show and bestselling author of The Total Money Makeover

"Craig Groeschel is the weirdest person I've ever known. And once you've read this book, you'll understand - that's the highest compliment I could ever pay him.  His passion for God, integrity, and wisdom are abnormal.  He approaches his relationship with God on a level that compels all of us to go higher.  And it's these very distinctions that make him the perfect person to help you stand apart from a world that is dying in a sea of normalcy. I can't recommend Weird highly enough."
- Steven Furtick, senior pastor of Elevation Church and author of Sun Stand Still

"Craig Groeschel has always been different ... in a good sort of way.  Weird will motivate you to abandon the normal path and live for Jesus with all your heart."
- Jentezen Franklin, pastor of Free Chapel and author of the New York Times bestselling book Fasting

"Craig Groeschel is weird in the best kind of way.  If anyone can give advice on how to be set apart from the world and just plain weird for God, it's him!  His book WEIRD: Because Normal Isn't Working is a must read!"
- Christine Caine, director of Equip & Empower Ministries and author of The Core Issue

Front Flap:

Normal Isn't Working

Normal people are stressed, overwhelmed, and exhausted.  Many of their relationships are, at best, strained and, in most cases, just surviving.  Even though we live in one of the most prosperous places on earth, normal is still living paycheck to paycheck and never getting ahead.  In our oversexed world, lust, premarital sex, guilt, and shame are far more common than purity, virginity, and a healthy married sex life.  And when it comes to God, the majority believe in him, but the teachings of Scripture rarely make it into their everyday lives.

Simply put, normal isn't working.

"When people describe my lifestyle or family as weird, I find comfort."

Journey with author and pastor Craig Groeschel as he shares a Christ-centered philosophy, on everything from money to scheduling to purity, that will help you break out of the normal rut and live according to the rhythms of God's grace and the truth of his Word.

In What It Means to Be a Sooner, many of Oklahoma's greatest players and coaches recall with enthusiasm, honesty, and emotion the years they spent at the University of Oklahoma, a time in which they contributed to one of college football's most glorious traditions.

"What does it mean to be a Sooner?

"When I look at that Switzer Center on OU's campus, I realize it represents thousands of other people.  We all did it here in Norman.  We all accomplished the success that we all enjoyed.  It wasn't just me.  They put my name up there on that building because somebody's name had to be on it, but it represents everybody.

"I think that we have some of the greatest fans in the world.  Now I sit up there and watch  the games and I am one of them.  They support Oklahoma, win, lose, or draw.

"Sooners are proud people.

"Like the song says, 'I am Sooner born and Sooner bred, and when I die, I'll be a Sooner dead.'"
